Complete Weekly Golf Notes: End of 2007-08 Season 
REVIEW
The Idaho State men's and women's golf team finish the season by peppering the record-holders lists for the school. Standouts for the men's team include Juniors Kyle Prolo, Dylan Meyer and Mark Cowman. Their achievements are impressive because their careers as Bengals only cover a three year span. The women's team was led by Senior Hannah Venn who added numerous honors to her record before finishing her career.
BIG SKY CONFERENCE
The Bengal women took 15th place at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Arizona with a team score of 723(+147) over two rounds. Idaho State shot a first round score of 357(+69) and improved during the second round by shooting a 366(+78). Freshman Kylie Smith shot a three-round score of 247 (+31) to tie for 38th place. Smith shot a 5.08 (+1) in her par 5 scoring average for the championship. Sadie Venn, a freshman shot a three-round score of 250 (+34) to tie for 41st place. With her performance Venn achieved her best 54 holes of the season which she previously set at 282 (+66) at the Dixie Classic. Alysia Hall, a junior, took 44th place with her three-round score of 258 (+42) while Katie Phillips, a sophomore, finished with a 262 (+46) to take 45th place.
PROLO ACHIEVES TOP RECORD SETTING PERFORMANCES
Prolo finished his career as a Bengal by earning First Team All-Conference Honors. He tied for fourth place in the American Sky Conference Championship where he shot an even 144 at the two-round tournament. Prolo also highlighted the end of his career by capturing Idaho State's lowest career scoring average record in their last year of competition with a 74.22 average. In 2007, Prolo achieved the lowest scoring average for a season with 74.04 in Idaho State history. This season, Prolo finished just under the school record he set with a scoring average of 74.14 over nine events.
Prolo also finished his career with a tie for the 3rd lowest round in school history with a first round score of 68 (-4) in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate. Prolo finishes his career with six top-ten finishes, the second best in Idaho State men's golf history. He also holds the second best career rounds of par or better with 17 rounds. Prolo has achieved seven top-twenty finishes as well.
COWMAN AND MEYER SET INDIVIDUAL RECORDS
Cowman and Meyer also made their way into the Idaho State record books. They both achieved two-top ten finishes in their careers. Meyer had nine career rounds of par or better while Cowman achieved five rounds. Holding the sixth lowest career scoring average is Meyer with 75.87 over nine events. Cowman had a career scoring average of 77.60 over his three years as a Bengal. He also shot the school's first hole in one, a 170-yard par 3, during the first round of the Bill Cullum Invitational in the Fall.
SENIOR VENN LEADS THE BENGAL SQUAD
Venn led the Bengals with her best Big Sky Conference Championship finish with a tie for 18th place shooting a three-round score of 234 (+18). She took 38th place in 2005 and tied for 27th place in 2006 and did not compete in 2007. Venn earned her second top-twenty finish of the season improving her career record to four top-twenty finishes.
With her performance at the 2008 Big Sky Championship Venn shot her best 54 holes of the season that tied for the 10th best in school history. Her previous best 54 was set after the Dixie Classic when she shot a 249 (+33) and matched in the Wyoming Classic earlier this month. Venn shot an even 5.00 in par 5 scoring and made 31 pars at the championship. The lone senior finished her career with the best season average of 83.1 on the team and a career scoring average of 83.4 which is the 10th best in school history.
BENGAL MEN END VARSITY SPORT AT COUGAR CLASSIC
The Bengal men's golf team competed in their final sanctioned varsity golf tournament for Idaho State University at the Cougar Classic. As a team the Bengals achieved the 15th lowest round in school history with their first round score of 288 at the Cougar Classic. The men's team also achieved their best finish of the season when they took ninth place out of 14 teams at the tournament.
