Bengals Hold 15th place in Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

Chandler, AZ--The Idaho State women's golf team is holding 15th place after two rounds of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at the Ocotillo Golf Resort Monday afternoon. The Bengals shot a 333 (+45) in the first round and a 334 (+46) in the second round for a two-round score of 667 (+91). Idaho State shot 75 pars as well as six birdies in the first two-rounds.

Senior Hannah Venn and Sophomore Katie Phillips both shot a two-round score of 163 (+19). Venn and Phillips flipped their first and second round scores to tie for 46th place among fourth other athletes. Venn shot an 81 (+9) in the first round and an 82 (+10) in the second round while Phillips shot an 82 (+10) in the first round and an 81 (+9) in the second round. Phillips had a par 3 scoring average of 2.88 (-1) over the first two rounds.

Alysia Hall, a junior, is tied for 70th place with a two-round score of 169 (+25). Hall shot an 85 (+13) in the first round and an 84 (+14) in the second round. Freshman Kylie Smith shot a first round score of 85 (+13) and a second round score of 87 (+15) for a two-round score of 172 (+28) to tie for 76th place. Sadie Venn, a freshman, shot a first round score of 92 (+20) and a second round score of 95 (+23) to hold 84th place with a two-round score of 187 (+43).

First place for the tournament is tied between Eastern Washington and Nevada who both shot a two-round score of 611 (+35). Holding the individual lead is Hillary Gerster of South Dakota State who shot a first and second round score of 72 (E) for a two-round score of 144 (E).

The Bengals will continue the competition with a shotgun start on Tuesday, April 8th at 7:45 a.m. at the Ocotillo Golf Resort.
