Annual Alumni Run Sets the Stage for Big Sky Conference

Pocatello, ID--The annual Alumni Run gave Idaho State athletes a victory against the Bengal Alumni on a cold and windy Saturday morning. Idaho State captured first place in the men's and women's meet. Even Head coach Brian Janssen ran in the Alumni Run taking 18th place in the 3-kilometer race with a time of 11:31.

"The alumni run to recapture a moment of glory," said Coach Janssen. "It's a lot of fun for everyone and a nice way to warm up for the Big Sky Conference."

The Bengal Alumni women had an excellent showing at the alumni run. However, Idaho State took the team win with 25 points. Gemma Maini finished in 7:14 taking 2nd place. Erica Wendt took 3rd place with a time of 7:48. Kerynn Davis and Haiden Siepert tied for 5th place in the 2,000-meter run with a time of 8:14. Chealsea McEwen ran the meet in 8:33 taking 9th place. Candida Butler finished in 8:41 taking 10th place. Senior, Jessica Bobert finished in 8:44 for 12th place. The Bengal alumni finished with a team score of 32. Lois Ricardi, a Bengal Alumni took 1st place in the 2,000-meter run with a time of 7:07.

Idaho State men's team swept the Alumni Run with a team score of 16. Saheed Khan finished in 1st place in the 3-kilometer race with a time of 8:52. John Ricardi finished in 9:15 taking 2nd place. Senior, Tysun Rickards took 3rd place with a time of 9:32. Branden Teeter finished the 3K race in 9:35 taking 4th place. Four seconds behind brother Branden, Senior, Landen Teeter finished in 6th place with a time of 9:39. Mike Tucker finished the race in 9:40 taking 7th place. 8th place was taken by Taylor Hansen with a time of 9:44. The Bengal Alumni finished with a team score of 47. Matt Tyrell led the Alumni team with a time of 9:36 to finish in 5th place.

The Bengals next competition is the Big Sky Conference on October 27th in Missoula, Montana.
