Ogden, UT--The Idaho State men's and women's cross country team competed in the NCAA Mountain Region Saturday morning at the Schneiter's Riverside Golf Course. The men's team took 14th place with 326 points and the women's team finished in 17th place with 447 points. Senior, Saheed Khan captured 25th place out of 105 runners with a time of 31:14.1 in the 10-kilometer race, just 1:22 behind the winner. John Ricardi took 47th place with a time of 32:17.5. Taylor Hansen captured 72nd place for the Bengals with a time of 33:17.2. Senior, Tysun Rickards finished with a time of 34:19.1 to capture 93rd place in the 10-kilometer race. Branden Teeter took 102nd place with a time of 35:27.2. Zach Barrett finished with a time of 36:05.9 taking 103rd place. For the men, University of Colorado posted a 1st place finish with 47 points. Colorado runners finished in the 6, 7, 8, 12, and 14 spots. UTEP finished in 2nd place for 56 points with runners in the 2, 4, 15, 17, and 18 spots. Junior, Lopez Lomong of Northern Arizona captured 1st place with a time of 29:52.1. Senior, Stephen Samoei of UTEP finished the 10-kilometer race with a time of 29:54.5, just 0:02.4 seconds behind the winner. The Bengal women's team was led by Freshman, Erica Wendt who captured 62nd place out of 118 runners with a time of 22:43.5 in the 6-kilometer race. Wendt finished 3:14.1 behind the winner. Gemma Maini captured 69th place with a time of 22:55.7. Kerynn Davis finished the race in 24:19.8 taking 107th place. Chealsea Kropushek captured 108th place with a time of 24:20.6. Freshman, Haiden Siepert finished in 24:33.0 taking 112th place. Chelsea McEwen captured 114th place with a time of 24:56.9. Candida Butler took 118th place with a time of 25:55.0. For the women, Colorado State posted a 1st place finish with 75 points. Colorado State runners finished in the 5, 15, 16, 19 and 20 spots. Northern Arizona posted a 2nd place finish for 81 points with runners in the 3, 11, 14, 25 and 28th spots. Junior, Sally Kipyego of Texas Tech captured 1st place with a time of 19:29.4. Junior, Jenny Barringer of Colorado posted a 2nd place finish with a time of 19:43.9. Barringer finished 14.5 seconds behind the winner. |
